By using CineMaze, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the CineMaze mobile application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
Description of Service
CineMaze is a free mobile game that challenges you to connect two movies through shared actors. The App includes:
- Daily Challenge: A new movie pair is presented each day at midnight Eastern Time. You get one official attempt per day to find the shortest connection path.
- Replay Mode: After completing the daily challenge, you may replay it to try for a better score. Your official (first-play) score is preserved.
- Star Ratings & Medals: Earn 1–3 stars based on your move count, with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
- Movie & Actor Information: Browse detailed movie info including cast, ratings (IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes), and Academy Award history.
- Watchlist: Save movies you discover during gameplay to watch later.
- Favorite Actors: Mark actors as favorites to quickly access their filmographies.
- Player Statistics: Track your cumulative game stats, medals earned, and completed connections.
No Account Required
CineMaze does not require registration or sign-in. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal information collected. All game data is stored locally on your device.
User Responsibilities
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not:
- Reverse Engineer: Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Tamper with Data: Manipulate local storage to falsify scores or game data
- Abuse APIs: Attempt to directly access or overload the third-party APIs used by the App
- Redistribute: Copy, modify, or distribute the App outside of official app stores
Game Data and Local Storage
Local Storage Only: All game progress, statistics, watchlist entries, and favorites are stored locally on your device. We do not offer cloud backup or data syncing. Deleting the app or clearing app data will permanently erase all saved data, and it cannot be recovered.
- Completed Connections: The app retains your 50 most recent completed games. Older entries are automatically removed.
- Daily Challenge State: Your daily challenge progress resets at midnight Eastern Time each day.
Third-Party Content
CineMaze displays movie and actor data from third-party sources:
- The Movie Database (TMDB): Movie details, cast information, and poster images. Subject to TMDB's Terms of Use.
- Open Movie Database (OMDB): IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
- Wikidata: Academy Award data, available under CC0.
We do not control the accuracy or availability of third-party data. Movie information, ratings, and images may change or become unavailable without notice.
Intellectual Property
- App Content: CineMaze and all original game design, code, and branding are owned by us
- Trademarks: The CineMaze name and logo are our trademarks
- Limited License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
Service Availability
- CineMaze requires an active internet connection to load movie and actor data
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The app may be unavailable during maintenance or due to third-party API outages
- We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time
Disclaimers and Limitations
Disclaimer of Warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits.
Termination
- By You: Delete the App from your device at any time to stop using the service
- By Us: We reserve the right to discontinue the App or restrict access if these Terms are violated
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be reflected by a new "Last Updated" date on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Dispute Resolution
- Governing Law: These Terms are governed by applicable local laws
- Informal Resolution: We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any disputes informally
Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect
- No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later
